The summer/winter schools are conceived as one-week events, each consisting of a three-day technical workshop, and a two-day non-technical course. Each of the technical workshops will provide an in-depth technical treatment of one particular application area by experts in the field, and will feature interactive sessions in which research fellows are asked to explore and present the potential contributions of their individual research project to the overall technological objectives.
The summer/winter schools will further include a two-day non-technical course on a topic that is considered crucial for a successful research career. In between workshop and course sessions, time slots will be used for formal and informal meetings. Moreover, visiting researchers will be invited to share their expertise during the technical and non-technical training sessions of the summer/winter schools.Towards the end of the project, an international workshop will be organized with the aim of presenting the achieved research results to the international community, and fostering future research collaborations by exploring synergies between the DREAMS network and external researchers participating in the workshop. With the aim of maximizing its impact and visibility, the workshop could be organized in an existing framework, or as a satellite event to a major conference. The DREAMS research fellows will be fully engaged in all aspects of the workshop organization. Moreover, one of the envisaged outcomes of the workshop is the formulation of a DREAMS research challenge which is to be launched into the international research community afterwards.
